While walking through Bramley Green towards the 259, I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean the pathway and greens are and around the skate bowl area. Someone is obviously doing a grand job, as we are all neighbours let us all try and do our bit as well.

Could this be the result of the new Environmental Wardens? Their duties are to carry out litter picking, dog mess clearance, inspections of play areas and reporting back problems to the APC office. Patty, have they started yet? |

Yes they have and a grand job they seem to be doing.
Its early days and they do not have all their equipment yet so currently just litter picking, but will soon have everything needed. When I say 'just' I do not mean that as a minor thing in any way. Already they are reporting back problems that would take longer to filter in otherwise, enabling the office to deal so much quicker.
We are learning as they go and will need to adjust ideas accordingly but so far it is proving better than I ever hoped. They are going to be a very valuable asset to our community and I thank them both for helping me prove this could work.

How nice to see somebody actually picking up litter rather than thoughtlessly throwing it around and also well done to the Parish Council for initiating this procedure. Maybe this will encourage residents of Angmering to put litter in bins where provided or at worst take their litter home with them. |

Does this mean that APC will now pay landscapers & contractors less? |

Grumpy Girl - How I agree with you. I am hoping that in time, it may just prick a few consciences and help to make a difference.
BRAM - not really, this is a new venture so to speak, so nothing to save. It is designed to keep our village nice at all times.

I am surprised that APC do not envisage savings in this project as over the last few years there have been instances I recall where additional work had to be carried out by contractors which I assume was over & above the contracted price. APC annual accounts would presumably quantify the costs of such work -for example the litter left by travellers at Mayflower park & various other littering instances in the area. The hourly rate paid to the environment wardens to cary out this type of work must surely be far less than contractor rates & hopefully more under the control of APC, particularly with regard to standard of work carried out. |
