You know where I mean… driving from the Rustington Golf Course roundabout west-to-east along the A259 and turning right using the new filter lane into the Sainsbury’s/Pet’s At Home/Halfords/Focus complex.
As I was sitting there at the front of the queue in the filter lane (red light) waiting for the opposite traffic from east-to-west to stop for their red light I noticed that the green lights for the main A259 west-to-east traffic were green - no problems there of course. But this green light was pretty close to ‘my’ right-filter lights and I think it could maybe cause a bit of a problem for the 'less attentive' drivers out there!
I’m a little concerned how long it will be before someone interprets those green lights as a ‘go’ to cross the carriageway into Sainsbury’s.
Do you think it might be a good idea for the main A259 west-east lights to be green arrows pointing forward (as opposed to the solid green lights as they currently are) just to make it clearer for those people who are sitting in the right-hand filter waiting for their green light to wait?
Next time you’re there turning right from a red light and are at the front of the queue, take a look and see what you reckon.
It could be a bit OTT but in my opinion a simple green arrow could save a massive pile-up.
