Just to remind everyone that the annual Traders Christmas evening will be taking place as usual in the village centre this year on Wednesday 11th, starting at 6pm. The road closure starts at 5pm, although provision has been made for the 5.10pm bus to come through as usual. Dont come too early, as things will not be set up properly for you to enjoy....6pm is planned starting time please. All the usual stuff, funfair with free goes on the lucky dip for anyone paying for a ride.Fabulous Tombola in the Parish office with the usual 100 prizes, this year better than ever. Raffle will be outside Holmes and tickets will also be available in a lot of the shops....first prize Nintendo Wii. Lucky dip this year is in Seymour & Lisle at the back of framing shop....follow the arrows. Santa has managed to fit us in this year and will be on the youth bus, so no queuing in the cold, you will be able to sit in the warm if there is the usual demand to see him. Free gifts for everyone who visits. Lots of drinks and snacks in the shops, carols on the green, and the Town crier will be with us as usual. The Library will be open and also the church/vestry hall for refreshments. Mulled wine at the Lamb. Come and listen to Bang on the ear in Jeffreys and see if you recognise anyone. Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible and hope you all have a good evening. Patty |

It was a really good evening last night in the village. Well done Pat for all your hard work. The weather was fine and not too cold which meant that people stayed in The Square longer than on many previous years.
My favourite moment was when a man arrived at the Church having been mistakenly told that the Lucky Dip was being held there. As he proffered his free Lucky Dip ticket, the Rector did extremely well to suppress a smile and I did extremely well not to offer the irreverent comment that the perhaps the baptistry immersion pool should be opened up for the purpose! |

Thank you both for your kind words. I would like to thank everyone for coming and for all those who put in that special effort to help, especially Colin and his amusements who always get on with the work in the most cheerful way and clear up so well before they leave.
New traders in the village were surprised at the number of people and poor old Santa could hardly speak by the end of the evening. Over 200 children saw santa and collected their free gift and most of those then popped over to Woodies who was giving out bags of free sweets to those that went in with their ticket from santa and said the magic words! The Tombola went very well and the lucky dip had queues most of the evening with a lot of people discovering that we had a garden machinery service shop in the village.
Please, please, if you bought a raffle ticket, check your numbers. Neil has kindly put the winning numbers on his news page and they are also on the doors of Holmes estate agent and ourselves. The winning ticket for the Nintendo has not yet been claimed. There is no phone number on the ticket, so please dont wait for a phone call, check your tickets against the list. White 82 (serial number AY32 5J4T) wins the nintendo Wii.
IS IT YOU????????????
Thanks once again to everyone. I hope you enjoyed it. Pat
