Does anyone know why Angmering has an oak tree as its symbol? If so need to know urgently, before Britain in Bloom judges come on Weds 11 July! Last year one of the judges asked what the story of it was an no one knew - and the same judge is soming this year!
Thanks!

HI Drunclejohn

I actually queried few years back with the PC and they advised me that the tree was NOT an oak tree but in fact a Lime Tree, representing those planted on the villge green.

Not sure if there is more history regarding why we have Lime trees, but hopefully this will help as a start.

the sign was actually designed by Terence Kay who was a parish Councillor at the time.

any comments and views listed above are those of myself personally and not as a Parish Councillor, and in no way reflect opinions of the Parish Council or any other professional bodies

Lime trees were planted in 1904, except of course for the one which was replaced a few years' ago.
