It is with great personal sadness that Tea in the Square have today announced that they have sold the teashop and will be closing their doors in a couple of weeks' time (date to be confirmed soon).
Anne-Marie and Helen opened the teashop in January in January 2016 and in their announcement they said: "We have absolutely loved our time in Angmering, our customers have been amazing, loyal and supportive throughout the 6 years that we have been in the village and we are sad to say goodbye, but we are excited to move on with other plans and projects that we both have for the future. We are still baking everyday so please pop in to say goodbye before we go. We are aware that there are still a few gift vouchers that were issued last Christmas that need to be used so please book in to redeem them before we close.
This afternoon, Angmering Village Greens have announced that they are now delighted to inform local residents that they have successfully negotiated the lease of 2 The Square in Angmering Village (the Tea in the Square shop). They are hoping to be open by the end of October! In a statement they said: "We have built a wonderful family business over the last 3 years and we are both ready to commit our futures to you all in the heart of Angmering and surrounding areas. We have already built some fabulous working relationships and we cannot wait to meet you all in person as we feel the last three years have felt a little 'virtual' at times."
Many Angmering residents will be aware of the present activity south of Water Lane where a bridge over the Black Ditch stream is currently being constructed. In a press release issued today, David Wilson Homes have provided more details of their development to be known as Ecclesden Park. The new homes will launch off-plan this Saturday 25th September. A sales office, with small adjoining car park, has opened off the eastern side of Weavers Hill.
David Wilson Southern Counties is set to bring a selection of 122 private and 53 affordable two, three and four-bedroom homes to the village, with the first show home due to be unveiled in Spring 2022. The first residents are expected to move into their new homes next summer.
The homes at Ecclesden Park have been built with sustainability in mind, with a select number of properties offering access to electric vehicle charging points as well as benefitting from photo voltaic (PV) panels. Each property has been sensitively designed, featuring attractive layouts and plenty of clever hidden features including energy efficient technology throughout, large windows to encourage natural light and generously proportioned rooms with well-planned storage solutions.
A number of the properties will house integrated custom-design swift bricks and sparrow nest boxes, with the wider site also home to several hedgehog highways and tawny owl and kestrel nest boxes.
Kimberley Benson, Sales & Marketing Director for David Wilson Southern Counties, comments: "Angmering is one of West Sussex's best kept secrets. Set on the edge of the desirable South Downs National Park, and just a short drive from the coast, this development is expected to be popular with local residents and buyers looking to escape to the country. We are already seeing plenty of forward requests from buyers hoping to reserve their interest at the development ahead of the launch. Ecclesden Park will offer a range of homes for buyers at every stage of the property ladder, and we look forward to seeing our first residents move into their new homes."
A selection of the properties will be made available to purchase using the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, which will enable first time buyers to purchase a property priced up to £437,600 at Ecclesden Park with just a five per cent deposit.
Located on the edge of the South Downs National Park and just a short drive from the beach, Ecclesden Park will offer buyers the best of a rural lifestyle, with both country and coastal pursuits available to residents. The development itself is located just a short walk from Angmering's high street, which is home to amenities including a post office, a shop, butchers, and a selection of pubs and cafes.

The management of The Lamb in Angmering has this afternoon made the following announcement:
"There have been a number of questions asked in the Lamb recently about Angmering Framing and Stitches and if we are going to take the premises over now Pat and John have retired after serving the village so well for so many years. We replied to all that we were considering opening a Pizza and Pasta restaurant on the site if we could negotiate a satisfactory lease and obtain planning permission. We are therefore pleased to announce that recently we agreed a lease for the premises and this week our Architects submitted our planning application to ADC for consideration. The application can be found by visiting the Arun District Council's website, going to planning applications and putting in the planning reference A/197/21/PL. Here you will find the layout of the new restaurant Name plate and the frontage.
The restaurant if planning is passed will be called THE STONE ROOM. The decor will be rustic with one wall being Sussex flint stone. Stone baked pizza's will be standard.
So what about the restaurant? What are the village to expect? Let us list for you some points that should answer most of your questions. THE STONE ROOM will be under the management of The Lamb at Angmering senior team headed by Martin Newbon the Managing Partner and Gemma Mason our General Manager. We will offer a competitively priced menu selection including Stone Baked Pizza and Pasta dishes along with a variety of toppings and sides. We shall offer various starters, homemade puds and an ice cream bar with a good selection. There will be options for Vegans and for Vegetarians.
We shall also be open at weekends and possibly Fridays for 'Breakfast in the Square'', offering a full English breakfast plus smoked salmon and scrambled eggs along with other breakfast goodies. There will also be a full 'take away' service. The Stone Room will be a 'walk in' restaurant, no bookings, only special events such as childrens afternoon birthday party's. At busy weekends you would arrive, if we were full you would place your name on a wait list and ask you to take a drink at the bar. For Children, we shall offer a children's menu along with ice cream choices and healthy soft drinks. We shall also provide some pasta dough for the children and some tools to play with whilst waiting for their lunch or dinner. We shall also look at the possibility of offering birthday packages for groups of children and birthday cake in the afternoons. We shall offer the kids an ice cream service in the summer from our 'ice cream cornet bar' stopping off at our entrance and buying one or two scoops!
The bar will be well stocked supplying cocktails, wines, beers, soft drinks, coffee and teas. The Pizza oven will be on display in the restaurant along with the chefs in an open kitchen. It will, we think, be a restaurant Angmering can be proud of.
If planning permission is obtained our aim will be to start the build almost immediately. The build will take at least 4 months, the building is old and a significant amount of upgrading is needed. If you think the Village would benefit from our proposal we would be most grateful if you would support us on the ADC planning website with a short note of approval. If you wish to object you can also lodge your objection."
