Seymour & Lisle, the garden machinery business in The Square, closed suddenly this week. Many people in the village have had their lawn mowers and other garden tools serviced there for decades although the business changed hands about 10 years' ago but kept the same name. The substantial building and yard behind Angmering Framing & Stitches is now "To Let" through Michael Jones & Company.
The Angmering Disability Group was established in July by parish councillor Mike Hill-Smith to give voice to disabled people, like himself, to get their problems resolved with regard to access, etc. The Group holds its meetings at the Angmering Social Club. in Arundel Road (opposite St Wilfrid's School). The Club is equipped with ramps and toilets for disabled people who are all welcome.
The Group's first meeting was held at 1.30pm on Wednesday 20 September and three members attended producing some requirements for the parish council to resolve using the complaints reporting form carried by all parish councillors. Mike says that the reporting system does work as was demonstrated very recently when he complained about the overgrown hedge obstructing the path close to Big Fry in The Square which has now been cut back making the path accessible to wheelchairs again.
Anyone wanting to join the Group or assist Mike can phone him on (01903) 770453 or email michaelhillsmith62@gmail.com

Thieves wearing hooded jackets yesterday attempted to break into the Co-op in The Square at about 4.00am yesterday morning (Tuesday 5 September). Several panes of glass were broken in the door but they failed to gain entry. After the attempt, the white BMW they were driving, which had been stolen from Brighton, was abandonned in St Margaret's church car park and set on fire.
Earlier, it is believed that the same thieves broke into a Sainsbury's Local and a Tesco in Billingshurst, and a couple of hours later they gained entry into Hartley's wine shop in Rustington. Detective Constable Sara Liau of Sussex Police said: Our investigation is ongoing but it seems likely that all these offences were linked.
This afternoon, PCSO's were in The Square apparenetly questionning local householders to ascertain whether they had witnessed or heard anything during the Angmering attemped break-in.
