Defibrillators

An Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) has been purchased by the Parish Council and is sited on a wall outside their office in The Square near Woodies News.  They are looking at the possibility of purchasing further defibrillators for siting at Palmer Road Recreation Ground and near Roundstone Level Crossing.

For residents information, there is also a defibrillator on the wall at the rear of the Village Hall - close to where the Monterey pine recently fell - and another on the wall at the front of the Community Centre on Bramley Green.

AEDs when used within the first 3-5 minutes of a person suffering a Sudden Cardiac Arrest can dramatically increase a victims chance of survival from currently what is currently less 5% to as much as 70% and higher with a defibrillator on the scene. AEDs were designed to be used by virtually anyone with little or no experience. The AED will guide you through the entire process until help has arrived and you should follow the visual & voice prompts of the AED. If the victim is not breathing, check the airway is clear then begin Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), i.e. rapid and uniterrupted chest compressions at a depth of 4-5cm. CPR should not be interrupted while the adhesive electrode pads of the AED are being applied.
