Tea Room opens

"Tea in the Square" was opened this morning by Cllr Andy Cooper, chairman of Arun District Council (and district councillor for Angmering). What a remarkable makeover in just a few days. We had one of the best slices of carrot cake ever - extremely moist - and a great cup of cappuccino. We wish Anne-Marie and Helen every success and hope that the people of Angmering will support this new venture.

Community Centre Car Park
One quotation had been received to date for the extension of the car park, and other contractors were being contacted to see if they intend to put in a price for the work. A full report would be produced for Council in February with an expected date for the work being over or immediately after the Easter holiday period.

This continued to progress with a number of options being considered by the Trust. Further work was being done on a Business Plan for the option of acquiring some CALA Homes affordable properties, the cost of which was being underwritten by the Parish Council.

Traffic delays in village centre

There were traffic hold ups in the village centre yesterday (Thursday) as a result of workmen accidentally drilling through a sewerage pipe on the new Chandlers site next to Windmill Bridge. Several large tankers and a mobile pumping unit were required in the village centre to minimise waste passing through the pipe. A spokesman for Southern Water said: “We deployed tankers to manage waste flows whilst work was underway so customers could continue to use their facilities". By this morning (Friday), work on the repair had been completed and traffic in the village was back to normal.

Café Closure / Tea Room Opening

We were personally very sorry to see "That Little Cafe in the Square" close last week after two years of trading. We wish Martin, Carlie, Lewis and Ross well for the future in whatever they choose to do.

However, we welcome Helen and Anne Marie who are planning to open the premises as a tea shop called "Tea in the Square" in the centre of the village on Monday 25th January. This will be a traditional style tea shop serving delicious assorted sandwiches and rolls freshly made to order, homemade cakes, freshly baked scones with clotted cream, all served on beautiful vintage china. Normal opening times will be 9.00am to 5.00pm (Tue - Sat) and 12 noon to 4.30pm (Sundays). The shop will have an alcohol licence so you could even add a glass of Prosecco on that special occasion. Further, as an additional service, Helen and Anne Marie can cater for a private party or small function for children/club/group at the end of the day, say, up to 7.00pm

We wish them all the best and hope that villagers will support this new enterprise. You can read more about "Tea in the Square" on their FaceBook page by clicking here.
