If you are looking for a last minute stocking filler, the following two booklets are available from Angmering Framing & Stitches in The Square:
Col. Sydney Charles Tomlin, 1894 - 1985
At Christmas time, read how another carpenter's son rose from a lowly bandsboy in the Royal Artillery to become the Military Commander of Rome and later became one of Angmering's most revered and loved residents. After WW2, "Tommy" Tomlin established a nursery business in Angmering and tirelessly worked for St Margaret's Church, the British Legion, St Margaret's School, various charities, and other local organisations, supported by his amazing wife, Margaret. (£2)
A Walk through Angmering's Conservation Area
The booklet takes readers on a leisurely walk through Angmering's Conservation Area and describes the architecture or building materials of over 60 houses, their history, and some occupants of note or interest who resided in them. Pages are illustrated with drawings by Angmering artists Maurice (Bill) Brayley and Terence Kay. A map of roads within the Conservation Area is also provided together with a glossary of terms to assist readers. (£1.50)
Residents of Angmering and neighbouring parishes are urged to ensure that their properties are secure following a spate of burglaries and attempted break-ins the the last couple of weeks. Rear gates should be locked where possible and items of value put out of view and some lights should be left on if it will be dark before you get home or if you go out in the evening. In the latest incident, between 6pm - 6:50pm on 15 December, the rear door was forced at a property in Station Road, Angmering. The following items were stolen:
Apple Macbook Pro in silver; A white pillowcase; White gold ring with 5 cubic zirconia in a cluster; Yellow gold knot ring; Luis Vuitton shoulder bag in brown and tan leather; Cash; Sony Playstation 3 with controller.
Please call 101 quoting serial 1258 15/12 if you have any information any information on the above burglary.
During the same period of time and day, another property in the same section of the road was burgled by a rear window being smashed. A Phillips DVD player was stolen. Please call 101 quoting serial 0076 16/12.
It is believed a third property had also been the subject of an attempted break but no access was gained.
Parish Council Community Action & Business
Plan
The Clerk was working on this with assistance from
Councillor Lee Hamilton-Street. The aim was to carry forward the wishes of the
residents of the Parish, as ascertained in the preparation of the Neighbourhood
Development Plan.
Road Safety
Public
Consultation: Mr Murphy wished again to raise concern about the pedestrian
crossing between the golf club and Station Road roundabouts, which he had
brought up most recently in February 2015 (minute 14/203, 9 February 2015). The
matter had now become particularly acute as a result of the installation of the
new cycleway. A traffic light camera was needed, and had been asked for.
Councillor Mountain noted that part of the problem on the stretch of the A259
in question was persistent misuse of the inside lane at Windmill Bridge by
traffic turning right. This often led to jostling and unsafe lanechange
maneuvers.
JEAAC Report: as well as the matters raised by Mr Murphy
under the public consultation item earlier in the meeting, the matter of
Roundstone Lane pedestrian access needed to be considered. Councillor Mountain
noted that a safety audit was required on Windmill Bridge following the
installation of the pedestrian crossing there.
Budget for 2016/2017
On a
proposal by Councillor Lee Hamilton-Street, seconded by Councillor Thompson:
That the Chairmans allowance be maintained at £700 and a further
£300 be budgeted separately for minor civic events AGREED by 9
votes in favour, 0 votes against, with the abstention of the Chairman and
Councillor Nikki Hamilton-Street.
On a proposal by Councillor Mountain, seconded by Councillor Bicknell: That the Parish Council precept be set at a figure of £272,290. (Using the estimated tax base of 3,100 this represented a Band D equivalent of £87.80 per annum and corresponding to an increase of 6.5%); the precept figure corresponding to the balanced budget option at Paragraph 21 of the Clerks report unanimously AGREED. (Post-meeting note: The new tax base has been set at 3,093 which means that the charge would be set at £88.03, an increase of 6.8%)
Appointments to South Angmering
Ward
Following discussion, Councillors Evans and Thompson
volunteered to represent the South Angmering ward and it was unanimously AGREED
that they be so appointed.

by Councillor Mountain, seconded by Councillor Bicknell: That the grant
requested by Angmering Youth FC be approved in the sum of £500
AGREED by 10 votes in favour, 0 against, with the abstention of
Councillor Nikki Hamilton-Street. On a proposal by Councillor Lee
Hamilton-Street, seconded by Councillor Oldfield: That the grant requested by

Goal Posts at Community Centre Open
Space
Cllr Hamilton-Street briefed members of an email she had
received from Sebastian Maxted, Deputy Member of Youth Parliament for East
Arun, Adur & Worthing, Chairman of Arun Youth Council saying that one of
his constituents had approached him about goal posts being implemented open the
open space, to the left of the Community Centre, when looking directly at the
Community Centre entrance. Members considered all points of the email. Cllr
Hamilton-Street said that Mayflower Park could be an alternative location. Cllr
Harris said that she could understand why children at an approximate age of
10-11 years wouldn't want to go far to play football. Cllr Francis suggested a
wire fence to prevent the ball from going into Foxwood Avenue and affecting the
properties. Cllr Harris said that residents in Foxwood Avenue have been there
for a number of years and may not want to look out at a wire fence and
suggested smaller 5 a side goal posts would be more reasonable. Cllr
Hamilton-Street said that it was a nice idea but there were a number of
concerns and it was concluded for the Administrator to respond to Sebastian
Maxted and ask him to consult with the community prior to this being taken any
further.

Many Angmering residents may have received a letter from Turley Associates recently informing them that Frontier Estates is seeking to create a new 53-apartment extra care facility on land at the junction of Dappers Lane and Water Lane. Extra care allows residents the freedom of living in their own homes with the added security that comes from care staff on-site 24 hours a day. Frontier Estates say that an extra care facility in Angmering would allow residents to stay within the village when their care needs increase, on a site that is easily accessible and connected to the local community. The facility would also provide open spaces and limited on-site car parking.
Turley Associates will be showing their designs at a public Exhibition on Monday 7 December between 3pm and 8pm in St Margaret's Church Hall (behind the church), Arundel Road, Angmering. At the Exhibition, the plans will be on display and members of the project team will be available to answer your questions and capture your feedback.
The proposed site can be seem on a project website at www.angmeringcare.co.uk. The website will later provide project information and downloadable consultation materials from the Exhibition.
