It is learned with regret that Nigel Nunn, a past Angmering parish councillor and chairman, died peacefully at home yesterday morning (Saturday) after a short illness. We wish to express our sincere condolences to his widow, Jean, and her family.
Following the recent resignation of Albert Mariner, at the Meeting of the Parish Council held on 16 December 2014, Councillor Susan Francis was elected to the office of Chairman of the Parish Council for the remainder of the 2014-15 administrative year, and Councillor Norma Harris was elected to the office of Vice-Chairman for the same period.
Councillor Nigel Nunn has resigned on health grounds.
At the end of December 2004, the Angmering Village Life website went live bringing village news, history, public information, weather, and photos to Angmering residents and those interested in the village or its past.
In the last 10 years, there have been more than 600,000 visits to the site with over 2 million page views. Each month, there are 5000-6000 visitors to the site with some 20,000 page views. The site currently comprises approximately 300 pages made up of about 2000 files of different types (html, jpg, gif, pdf, etc).
News pages for all except one month of the last 10 years are available from the News Archive. These pages will be lodged with the West Sussex Record Office providing a snapshot of village life at the start of the 21st century.
The Angmering Forums, hosted by Angmering Village Life, went live one year later on 1 January 2006 and, since that time, approximately 15,000 postings have been made to the Forums.
Arun District Council has given Notice that a Referendum will be held on THURSDAY, 22 JANUARY 2015 to decide on the question below:
"Do you want Arun District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority to use the neighbourhood plan for Angmering to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"
This is the culmination of over three years of work by the Steering Group set up by Angmering Parish Council and comprised a large number of local volunteers. This is your chance to have a say on the future of the village. Angmering residents were given the opportunity of their imput and comment in 2012 and on the draft Plan earlier this year at evening consultation meetings. A copy of the final approved Neighbourhood Plan, along with an explanatory newsletter, will be delivered to every household in the village in the week commencing 5 January 2015. If you have any questions on its content, you should contact the Parish Office in the first instance.
Poling Cards are in the process of being distributed to all registered people living in the Parish of Angmering. In order to be able to vote:

The Kings Chamber Orchestra, under their distinguished and irrepressible director, Jerseyman Gerard Le Feuvre (see photo: right), will be coming to Angmering in February bringing light and laughter with a thought provoking programme of live music and spontaneity. Two concerts, organised by St Margaret Church, will be held at the Angmering School, Greenwood Drive, Station Road on Saturday 7 February 2015, as follows:
4.00pm Afternoon Concert: 'The Stars in the Bright Sky'
This concert will capture the imagination of children with plenty of hands-on fun. Audiences are invited to bring a Teddy and families are able to sit together, so that the programme designed for families to interact with each other and the orchestra will have maximum effect. Tickets: Adult £5, Child (14 and under) £2.50, Family (2A, 2C) £13.50, (2A, 3C) £15.50.7.30pm Evening Concert: 'The Light Fantastic'
The Evening concert finds the Kings Chamber Orchestra in search of the starriest music in the repertoire. Gerard's unique style and presentation contrasts moments of tremendous humour with more touching elements in the orchestra's life and music. Expect uplifting pieces and surprises from Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Paganini too at this gig. Tickets: £9.
Tickets are on sale NOW from the Church Office, then in the New Year from Woodies News or Holmes Estate Agents. Tickets can also be purchased at www.eventbrite.co.uk. For further details, phone the Church Office on 01903-784459 (Office Open: Weekdays 09.30am-12.30pm).
Contractors to Angmering Parish Council have spent the last two days installing new Christmas lights in the lime trees on the Green in the Square. The blue and white lights are much brighter than the broken ones they replaced and look very good indeed. The cost, including installation, was £4670. Savings resulting from the replacement of Parish Council Street Lights and the Reserve set up for this purpose funded the new lights.
A Christmas tree has also been installed on the Green and it is hoped that the new set of matching lights will be installed and working by tonight's (Wednesday) Traders' Christmas Night.
A reminder that all roads into the village centre will be closed to vehicles between 5pm and 9pm this evening. Traffic from the south wishing to get north of the village centre will need to use the route through Roundstone Lane, Weavers Hill, Dappers Lane and Merryfield Crescent.
See the news article dated 7 December (below) for this evening's activities.
It is noted from an article posted on the Angmering Parish Council website on 19 November, that Cllr Albert Mariner has resigned as both as chairman of the Council and as a councillor on health grounds. Cllr Susan Francis, as Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council, is acting as Chairman until the next meeting of the Parish Council on Tuesday 16 December, at which a vote will be taken on the election of a replacement Chairman for the remainder of the administrative year.
Further to our news items of 30 November and 1 December, the Public Exhibition to gain villagers' views on the opening of an M&S Simply Food store and family public house/restaurant on land off the A259 in Angmering, will be held in the King Suite, Angmering Village Hall (Station Road) on Thursday 11 December 2014 between 3pm and 7pm. Members of the project team will be available to talk through the plans and answer questions.
The annual Traders' Christmas Night will be taking place as usual in the village centre on Wednesday this week (10th December) starting at 6pm. The road closure starts at 5pm, although provision has been made for the 5.08pm bus to come through as usual. You will not be able to drive a vehicle through the centre of the village between 5pm and 9pm. Don't come too early, as things will not be set up properly for you to enjoy....6pm is planned starting time. It will go on to approx 9pm.
The majority of the shops in the centre of the village will be open, and here are some of the attractions
