Padgett's Crossing
Network Rail
had proposed that this crossing on a formal Public Right of Way (PROW) be
closed for safety reasons following a number of recent near accidents and
fatalities in the past. There would be a formal consultation process starting
in the next month or so and, if there were no objections, the crossing would be
closed within around six months. The matter had been discussed at the JEAAC
Highways Committee and there had been general agreement to the closing of the
crossing. The Parish Council view would be discussed when the formal
consultation process was under way.
ASRA Joint Working Party
Councillor Mountain reported that all councillors had been sent a copy of the
current position. After 16 months of work the committee had been increasingly
frustrated at achieving anything when working with ASRA. He thanked Councillors
Spooner and Trott for trying o make it work and he said that there would need
to be discussions with Arun District Council to sort out the future.
JEAAC Highways & Transport Group
The Parsons Brinckerhoff conclusions on the A259 survey were that the
number one priority was to dual the sections around Angmering. Also to be
discussed was the entrance to the proposed new retail centre on Windmill
Bridge. .

the CLT could become involved in, but it needed to be set up with the support
of the Parish Council. On a proposal bt Councillor Mountain, seconded by
Councillor Biss it was RESOLVED to support the CLT setting-up process and to
allocate a maximum of £2,000 to enable the initial organisation of the

The parents and pupils of St Wilfrid's School in Angmering are launching a poster awareness campaign, highlighting the problem of dog-fouling on footpaths and verges throughout the village, on their walk to school . The parents and children are tired of walking in dog mess and finding it on their shoes, scooters and pushchairs. They have decided to take up the cause.
The children are busy designing bright and colourful posters carrying their own messages highlighting the problem they face. In the next few weeks these posters will be visible on lamp-posts throughout the village and hope to catch your eye.
To those responsible dog owners, the parents and pupils hope that these posters will bring a smile to your face. To the small minority who do not clean up after their dogs, they appeal to you to consider the implications of your actions so that we can all safely enjoy the benefits of walking through our village.
Not only is dog fouling anti-social, it also carries significant public health issues including the added danger of trying to avoid it on already narrow paths and busy streets. The children hope to have the support of the all our villagers as they take on the scourge of dog-fouling.
This initiative is supported by Angmering Parish Council, the Arun Dog Warden and County Councillor Deborah Urquhart.

On Wednesday night / Thursday morning this week, several vehicles were broken into in the following locations in Angmering: Sunnyside Close, Hazel Road, Rowan Way, and Ashmore Way. Various items were stolen including Satnavs, wallets and a jacket.
Sussex Police are advising owners to lock the doors and close the windows when you leave your car, however long you are leaving it for. No valuable items should be left in vehicles and nothing should be left on display. Even an old coat or plastic bag can be a tempting target for a thief. No valuables or important documents should be left in the glove box.
If you have any information on the above incidents or other crime, please let Sussex Police know on 101.
The empty shop next to Holmes Estate Agents in The Square will open on Saturday 16 March as VINTAGE ON THE GREEN. Although some residents have suggested that it was to be just an antique shop, brothers Mike and Tony Sinclair's new venture is far more than this, aiming a significant part of the business at the vintage and retro markets. In fact the business will source an eclectic mix of antique, industrial, retro and vintage items from all over Europe, and beyond.
Mike, who has lived in the village centre for the last 6 years tells Angmering Village Life that one of their aims is to sell furnishing and other items that will provide potential customers with a different look to enhance their homes or workplaces (an example being shabby chic) and which will move with them as favourite pieces. Tony's particular interest is in the retro market. They will also be providing a discreet house clearance service.
They are looking forward to opening in the village and Mike says everyone is welcome to come and have a browse, and perhaps a cup of coffee.
Their website ( www.vintageonthegreen.co.uk ) is still being developed but there is sufficient content already to provide readers with an good idea of what services and items will be on offer. Angmering Village Life wishes Mike and Tony Sinclair every success.
The work to replace gas mains in The Square/Water Lane is having a significant impact on most traders in and around the village centre with a marked decrease in takings, especially this week. Some traders have expressed concern over the time the roadworks are taking and have suggested that they are already running a week behind schedule. There are days when little or no work is undertaken at all. The current work is scheduled to be complete by 11 March but we are told that there is more work to be done in Water Lane.
When that work is complete, further gas main replacement work is to take place in the High Street, currently scheduled from 11 March to 2 April, but it appears that this might not commence until the Water Lane work is complete.
Residents are avoiding driving to the village as the multi-way traffic signals are causing delays and additionally having an impact on parking. The crossing lights have also been suspended by The Green making it difficult or unsafe for pedestrians to cross the road.
