1901 Census

The 1901 Census for Angmering has been now fully transcribed by Mr RW Standing and can been seen as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file by clicking here. You will need to have Adobe Acrodat Reader installed on your computer to be able to view this document. The document consists of 40 pages and therefore for researchers with an internet "dial-up" connection, the page may take a little while to fully load.

Although the transcription is likely to contain a few small errors, because it has been prepared and checked by local history researchers, it is likely to be considerably more accurate than the on-line census at the National Archives. There have also been a instances where a word or name has been impossible to read.

The transcription has been prepared from a copy of the original hand-written schedules prepared by the ennumerators in 1901 and maintained by the National Archives under their reference RG 13/0961.

Angmering Village Life wishes to thank Mr Standing for the substantial effort he made in transcribing the Census and for agreeing for it to be made available to researchers on this website.

This updated page replaces the partial transcription (Heads of Households only) prepared by Mr NA Rogers-Davis in November 2002.
