Angmering Cricket Club are seeking new adult and junior members ahead of the 2013 season. The junior side will be playing league cricket for a second season and will also have a programme of friendly matches. The 'senior' Sunday side have a full programme of Sunday fixtures across the county.
We'd love to boost the numbers of villagers representing the cricket team. If interested please contact Russ/Alice Sopp for the junior side on 07840 773312 or Jim Hughes on 07778 493241 for the Sunday senior side.
Thanks |

Hi GreenFields
We currently have 1 junior side but we accomodate a range of ages in this team. The youngest players need to be aged 11 in 2013 (so that can be 10 years old, so long as they have their 11th birthday on or before 31st Dec). The eldest players can be 16 years old.
Our mixed age team has worked very well over the past few years, and if we attracted increased numbers we'd look to run specific age teams, for example under 12's etc.

Angmering Cricket Club now have a confirmed set of indoor practice nets for both the senior side and junior side, starting in early March at Arundel Castle. The club are continuing to search for new, local people to join the team to enjoy playing friendly, yet competitive cricket across Sussex. The teams are very social and everyone is given opportunities to be involved in matches. Membership rates are also very low, so its a great all round deal! Contact Jim Hughes on 07778 493241 for more information. |

Its a bumper season in terms of fixtures- we have a scheduled 9 league fixtures, plus we'll be looking for a range of 'friendly' matches as well. The target is for a total of 15 games, which is more than most other local clubs have. It gives us the opportunity to get all junior players involved in some matches- we dont like to have kids turn up and not have a chance to play some matches.

Hi there Greenfields
We are struggling a bit- Despite a major leaflet campaign, article in the local press and posters in the village we have to date not had any sustantial interest from people wishing to join or even try out the junior cricket team- currently we've had 1 person get in touch and they lived in Rustington. Its a real shame- the club is well run and has put a significant amount of time and money in to ensure there is a junior team. Our existing juniors are a good bunch who play in the correct spirit and are a credit to the club and the village. We'll be doing further publicity, but short of knocking on every door, im not sure what else we can do (we are open to ideas though!)
There was quite a bit of interest raised in the recent questionnaire that was part of the community plan consultantion whereby people raised the issue of a village cricket club and cricket facilities. If these people are reading then i encourage you to get in touch as we have a well run club in the village that is in need to new players- feel free to call on 07778 493241.

The vast majority of the age group you are targeting, must attend school, and the majority of them must attend Angmering School. I'm sure you have enquired with the Sports Teachers and pupils at Angmering School, but in case you havn't........there must be a few decent young cricketers there, who would like the opportunity of some coaching. |
