Rather strange to me how this looks. Looks like maybe Labour weren't really any worse that the tories in terms of the budget deficit but they managed to improve most of our public services with around the same borrowing and in fact out of the years labour were in power 4 of them were in surplus. And only started to dramatically increase when the global economy crisis hit 2007 onwards..
Well Done Gordon Brown for Such a wise investment... Even though the Tories were against doing so you have been proved right.. Just a shame that the Tories will no doubt use the money to bribe their way through the next Election...
I thimk Gordon Brown could take some pride in this if he had had any real choice in doing it which he did not. I think he would be better remembered had he not sold the nations gold reserves at historicly low prices and blatently robbed the pension funds of millions in his time as chancellor.
Only time will tell. I don't believe coalitions are a great recipe for success but it wasn't a coalition that was responsible for Black Wednesday or the ERM fiasco. So far the policy of debt reduction makes a great deal of sense.
Governments seem to perform terribly after their second term in government (re Conservatives John Major Labour Blair>Brown).
Arrogance, complacency and corruption seem to take over
Sorry But i don't think it's a prpoer coalition as Clegg has proved tiime and time again, he just follows the Tory line... So we have A Tory Goverment by default.
Its true that the Conservatives have the upper hand-they did win a lot more seats after all! The Lib Dems can bring down the government at any time if they wish as the Conservatives do not have an overall majority. That how it works (or doesn't)with coalitions.
