In recent weeks, I've noticed that my boadband speed has slowed dramatically. I use Demon.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems? If so what ISP are you using?

What speeds are Angmering residents getting and who is your ISP? Have they improved or slipped in the last year?

I think I'm going to have to change ISP before long?

HI Neil

Im with Orange
Download speed = 6.5 mb
Upload speed = 0.5mb

I have to say performance is pretty good and consistent.

I can stream movies from lovefilm no problems.

You can check your own stats by visiting http://top10.com/broadband/speedtest/ Its got links to buy BB from other people but you can get your test results without signing up for anything. Be interesting to see what others get

Thanks jammer.

In a whole range of speed tests yesterday, the best I could achieve was:

Download 2MB
Upload 0.38MB

I used to get speeds nearer to yours. I think Orange use Local-Loop Unbundling (LLU) at the Rustington Exchange whereas Demon do not.

Looks like I'm going to move ISPs. Has anybody had problems moving from one ISP to another and, if so, what ISP was it? Thanks

Not noticed any appreciable drop. I was using "Mybroadbandspeed" on my 3 yr old Vista PC and regularly got 7MB down and 7KB up. Tried just now on a better PC and got similar results. I'm with TalkTalk (OK, I know, but they haven't done anything to P me off yet).

I was with Orange but moved abount 3 years ago following some absolute nonsense from their Customer Helpline when the "techie" stuck rigidly to his script even to the point of giving me instructions for one modem instead of the one I had, thereby taking the connection down altogether, rather than admitting they had a problem in their infrastructure.

Move went OK, but this was before TalkTalk took on Tiscala.

My wires probably come past you, Neil, might even share them.

Thanks Aramis. Yes, TalkTalk are much improved and are now getting quite good press. I've also noticed from ThinkBroadband that they are getting quite good speeds in Angmering.

I got up yesterday at 6.30am and tried the special BT tester. I only got 0.95 Mbps download whereas the previous afternoon I got 4.6 Mbps. All very strange!

In the meantime, Demon are still investigating my speed ......................... !

I've noticed recently that my speed has dropped and using a checker, it appears that my download speed is lower than my upload speed which is most strange. Anyone else finding this?

Be careful what you ask for - you just might get it.

Just checked my broadband speed - now downloading at 8Mb and uploading at 1Mb. I am with BT. I did experience problems earlier in the year and after three visits from an engineer it was discovered that the fault was at the Exchange near Angmering station.

My problem seems to have been rectified. I found a report that there was a problem across areas of Sussex which was also affecting this area.
