Reducing the eastbound carriageway to one lane on the A259 is causing queues of about 800 yards back along the Rustington by-pass.

Now that the crops have been cut in the field opposite Sainsburys, I wonder whether, with cooperation from the farmer, the vehicles used for the new path construction could have use the fields rather than closing the carriageway and causing all the inconvenience. Perhaps that's too simple!

It would therefore be sensible if the Station Road work was done first during the school holidays. But this is WSCC!!!

Once the corn is cut in the field north of the A259, contractors vehicles could park on that land during construction of the path which would minimise the impact to traffic on the A259.

Not enough bodies or machinery to tackle from both ends of proposal

Sensible planning and timing of road works do not seem to be something with which W.S.C.C. concern themselves. Agree with your comments, Neil, that work should have began immediately when the school holidays started!

Maybe they'll only be doing it at night but it does seem a rather long time even if that is the case. Never be surprised at anything WSCC highways say ... or do.

Cheers BFA. Not much thought gone into doing it in the school holidays then. It only took them 3 weeks to do the Windmill Bridge crossing but this is going to take 5 weeks. Sheeesh!!!
